Shannon Fox Doula
Birth and Postnatal Doula
Hi, I’m Shannon – a doula, mother, and breastfeeding peer supporter based in Ringwood.
I never imagined I’d be doing this work. I spent 12 years in railway engineering (yes, really!), and I’d convinced myself I wasn’t the “maternal type.” But becoming a mum completely shifted everything I thought I knew about myself. What made the difference wasn’t some magical instinct that suddenly appeared (though that fierce, protective love was very real!) – it was the support I received. People who saw me, validated me, and reminded me I was doing beautifully even when I doubted everything.
My experience is why I became a doula. I wanted to be that person for other women stepping into motherhood. Someone who will back you up completely, respect your wishes, and ensure your voice is heard – not to advise or persuade, but to support whatever feels right to you.
I trained with Nurturing Birth and I’ve trained in Birthing Biomechanics with Shellie Poulter, The Serenity Doula. I’m also a volunteer breastfeeding peer supporter, it’s my way of giving back for the support I received with my daughter.
I’m a total social butterfly. I’m here for honest conversations and meaningful connection, but sometimes a little light-hearted humour goes a long way.
If you’d like to chat about working together, nothing is off limits. Reach out – I’d love to hear from you!

Services
I offer birth preparation, birth support and postnatal doula services to families in Hampshire & Dorset, and virtually across the UK. I particularly love working with first-time mothers.
If you choose to work with me antenatally, I’ll support you emotionally and practically to prepare for birth so that you can trust your body’s wisdom and make informed decisions that feel right for you. During labour I’ll be a calm and steady presence, there to protect your space, advocate for you, and gently remind you of your strength and power.
If you choose to work with me postnatally, I’ll be by your side while you get to know your new baby and find your rhythm. Maybe you’d like to talk through your birth experience, need support with feeding or some help managing the household. My role is to ensure you feel nurtured as you ease into motherhood.
